What is Day on the Hill and Why Should I Attend?
This one-day event will give you a chance to stand in support of the sexual risk avoidance (SRA) message, and represent others across the country who agree with you. Young adults have a particularly powerful voice on Capitol Hill. Congressional Offices recognize that you are the future and are very interested in hearing about what matters to you!
Who Will Set Up My Congressional Meetings?
Ascend will arrange all the meetings for you and will send you a schedule prior to your arrival. You will either be meeting with your Member of Congress, or one of their staffers. You just need to come ready to make an impact!
How Will I Know What to Say?
Everyone has a story to tell, and your Member of Congress wants to hear yours! Don't worry that you won't know what to say. We will provide you with effective talking points and other helpful materials for your meetings at our morning informational meeting. You will be well prepared!
What Will My Day Look Like?
In addition to your Congressional meetings, there will be opportunities to tour the Capitol and sit in on a session of Congress. To give you a better idea of what your day will look like, click here for a copy of last year's agenda. A list of hotels close to Capitol Hill and approximate rates can be found here. Can't join us in DC? That doesn't mean that you can't still take part in this important event. It doesn't matter if you register an an individual, with students, or with your organization.
